Rev. Bob Harp
Greetings and Aloha! It is an honor to be a part of this special day in your lives…to be the one to conduct this service that will unite your lives in Holy Matrimony.
It is also good to be in this Shangri-La-like place now to assist you as you come to unite your lives in holy matrimony, a union which is one of the most beautiful of all human relationships.
It is obvious that you two love each other and have chosen each other, so I again must say it is for this reason that we are meeting together in this Eden-like place…to help you and to bless you as you become husband and wife, this marvelous relationship that should continue so long as you both shall live.
As you know, there are no human ties that are more tender, affectionate, and intimate…and there is no contract more Sacred that the one you know which to take:
Groom, will you have Bride to be your wife, to live always in the purity of marriage, and will you love her, comfort her, care for her, honor and help her in sickness or health, in pleasant times or difficult, in prosperity or adversity, and will you promise to keep love, faithfulness and integrity in your marriage as long as you both live?
Bride, will you have Groom to be your husband, to live always in the purity of marriage, and will you love him, comfort him, care for him, honor and help him in sickness or health, in pleasant times or difficult, in prosperity or adversity, and will you promise to keep love, faithfulness and integrity in your marriage as long as you both live?
May I now have the ring Groom is to give to Bride?
The ring is the time-honored symbol of marriage. It is an unending, unbroken circle representing the unending, unbroken relationship that is to exist between you, so long as you live.
Groom, place the ring on Bride’s finger and repeat after me:
“I, Groom, take you, Bride, to be my wife. To have and cherish always. I give you this ring as an expression of my love, and my devotion, and in pledge, of the marriage promises that we express today, our Hawaiian Wedding Day.
Bride, place the ring on Groom’s finger and repeat after me:
“I, Bride, take you, Groom, to be my husband. To have and cherish always. I give you this ring as an expression of my love, and my devotion, and in pledge, of the marriage promises that we express today, our Hawaiian Wedding Day.
And now, may the Lord bless both of you as you have exchanged these vows and have given these rings, and said these loving words to each other with feeling, therefore:
As a minister of God and in accordance with the laws of the State of Hawaii, I now pronounce you to be Husband and Wife…One in name, one in aim and one, we trust, in a happy destiny.
May it be, that any whom the Lord brings together and joins together, that no one (including yourselves) will ever attempt to separate.
You may now kiss the bride.
Congratulations!
